Simon King is an experienced craftsman and designer working in Wanaka, New Zealand.

His range of woodworking skills include cabinetmaking, wood turning, carving, inlay work and musical instrument making. After nearly twenty years of teaching in various parts of New Zealand and in The Cook Islands he is currently in the process of making the transition back to being a full-time woodworker. At the moment his main focus is on establishing his workshop while completing his last year of full-time secondary teaching.

Simon’s other interests include tramping and kayaking, performance poetry, travel and photography. He has also been spotted in the pivotal role of  “man with beard” in The Hobbit.
